The Dreamer and the Realist

Once upon a time, there lived a Dreamer and a Realist. And although they were neighbours, they were constantly bickering.

The Realist thought that the Dreamer was wasting his time with unrealistic, naive dreams that have no use in the real world.

The Dreamer accused the Realist of being a naysayer, constantly crushing his dreams and generally making life grey, miserable and mechanical.

Then God came along and said to them:

“I created Realists and Dreamers so that you could work together to solve this big mess that I’ve left you.  Realist, your job is to keep the Dreamer from starving to death.  Dreamer, your job is to keep the Realist from losing his spirit and turning back into dust.  Now, play nice and try to have fun.  But remember your homework is due before the end of the world.”
